Using the Auto Save Feature

Note: This topic is not applicable to BAM-based projects.

SeqMan Pro can remind you to save your SeqMan Pro project at regular intervals or automatically save backups of your project as you work by using her Auto Save feature. Select File > Auto Save to open the Auto Save dialog. Some parts of the dialog are not revealed unless you make certain selections from the first three radio buttons.

Choose one of the radio buttons to the right of Automatic Save/Backup:

None - To disable the Auto Save feature.

Auto Save – To have SeqMan Pro prompt you to save your project at regular intervals. If you choose this option, you must specify a backup time interval (in minutes) in the Save/Backup Interval (min) field. SeqMan Pro will prompt you to save after each specified interval.

Note: When Auto Save is active, at each prompt a dialog will appear asking “Auto Save Project Now?” Click Yes to save the project or Cancel to resume without saving. If you press Cancel, SeqMan Pro will prompt you to save again after the next specified interval. Auto Save prompts you only if changes have been made in the project.

Backup Sessions - To create backup copies of previous versions of your project rather than writing over the document during a save. If you choose this option, the following dialog will open:

In Save/Backup Interval (min) field, enter the interval (in minutes) at which you want to back up the project.

In Number of Backup Sessions, type the number of previous versions to be saved. If you choose to save four backups, for example, the last four backups will be saved; once four backups have been saved, the next backup writes over the oldest of the four backups. The backups are named filename.BAK#.sqd.

The default location for saving backups appears above the Set Folder button. To change the location, click Set Folder and choose another directory. Make sure that there is adequate disk space for your backups. If you have not designated a folder for backups using the Set Folder button, SeqMan Pro will prompt you for a folder at the initial save.

Note: To revert to the project in its state at the time of the last save, select File > Revert. To go back to the project in an earlier state, select File > Open and locate one of the backup versions created via Auto Save.
