Issue: The Variant Annotation Database (VAD) is a feature in ArrayStar 17 that provides links to a wide variety of online databases when working with human samples. Lasergene 18 (released in mid-October 2024) includes an updated version of the VAD. In addition, access to the VAD has now also been added to GenVision Pro.

However, in the initial release of Lasergene 18, one specific database—Genomenon’s Mastermind Genomic Database—is temporarily unavailable.

Resolution: We are working to restore access to Mastermind and hope to do so shortly after the Lasergene 18 release. We are able to do this without releasing a new version of Lasergene. Once access is restored, we will update this Product Notification.

In the meantime, if you need to access Mastermind, we recommend using ArrayStar v. 17.6. Once access is restored, you will be able to access Mastermind through both ArrayStar 18 and GenVision Pro 18. For questions, please contact us at 866-511-5090 or support@dnastar.com.
