Date: 3/19/25
Version Affected: Lasergene 18.0.3
Version Fixed: N/A
Issue: Lasergene’s Java-based applications do not launch on Mac computers running Apple Silicon unless Apple’s Rosetta software is also installed. This affects the Lasergene applications GenVision Pro, SeqMan Ultra, Protean 3D, MegAlign Pro, and SeqNinja.
Resolution: In future releases of Lasergene, we expect the Java apps to run on Apple Silicon without requiring Rosetta.
In the meantime, you can fix this issue by installing the free Rosetta software. To do this, simply double-click on one of the above Lasergene apps in the Finder. In response, macOS will offer to install Rosetta. Once Rosetta is installed, your Lasergene applications should launch without any issues, even if you reinstall them for any reason or upgrade to a new version in the future.
