Date: 3/21/24
Version Affected: Lasergene 17.5 and later
Version Fixed: N/A (but see below for an alternative)
Issue: MegAlign Pro users running macOS 14 (Sonoma) receive an error message when attempting to build a phylogenetic tree using the RAxML method, first introduced in Lasergene 17.5.
Resolution: This issue is caused by an incompatibility between RAxML and Mac M1/M2 computers, i.e., macOS14 and above. Starting with the release of Lasergene 17.6, an upgraded version of the algorithm (RAxML-NG) is now included in MegAlign Pro and this version is compatible with these operating systems. Because RAxML-NG is now available for affected users, we do not plan to address the RAxML incompatibility. To access RAxML-NG, install the latest version of Lasergene by going to the My Licenses page of our website. For further information, please contact DNASTAR at 866-511-5090 or support@dnastar.com.
