This topic describes how to manually rename an individual experiment, track, or chromosome. These new names are used solely within the GenVision Pro application.

(Note: to instead name items using specified data fields, see Creating names automatically using specified data fields.)

To manually rename a selected experiment:

  1. In the Experiments view of the Explorer panel, right-click on an experiment and choose Rename.
  1. In the popup dialog, overwrite the existing name and press OK.

To manually rename a track or chromosome:

  1. Select a track in the Tracks panel or select the name of a chromosome in the Genome view.
  1. Do any of the following. Available options will vary depending upon the selection made in Step 1.

    • Choose Edit > Rename Track (or Rename Sequence) from the main menu.

    • From the Actions section of the Details view, click on the Rename Track link.

    • Right-click on the selection and choose Rename Track or Rename Sequence.

The Choose Label dialog opens with the Display drop-down menu set to Custom label.

  1. Type the desired name into the Label text box.
