A comprehensive cloning vector catalog named CloningVectors.sbp is installed with Lasergene. You can create and add custom vectors to this catalog to use with current and future cloning projects. As you update Lasergene in the future, DNASTAR will update the vector catalog, but will not overwrite any vectors that you have imported or customized.
To add a currently open sequence to the vector catalog:
Do either of the following:
- With a sequence file open in SeqBuilder Pro, choose File > Add (file name) to Vector Catalog.
- From an open Cloning Project window, select any sequence file name (e.g., an insert in the Inserts folder), then right-click on the selection and choose Add to Vector Catalog. Subcommand options are in New Folder and in Folder.
- in New Folder option causes a dialog to open where you can type a name for the new folder.
- in Folder leads to a list of folders in the current catalog, as well as an additional subcommand option of add at top level. Choosing add at top level adds the vector and the containing folder to the catalog.
- in New Folder option causes a dialog to open where you can type a name for the new folder.
To upload a file from your computer into the vector catalog:
- Do either of the following:
- Choose File > Open Vector Catalog.
- From an open Cloning Project window, right-click on the Vectors folder and choose Open Vector Catalog.
- Choose File > Open Vector Catalog.
The Project window opens to display folders containing different categories of vectors.
- Click on the plus sign to the left of a folder to expand it and view its contents. Some folders contain vectors; others contain sub-folders that must also be expanded in order to view the vectors.
- Decide which folder is best for your custom vector and click on it once. Then right-click on the selected folder and choose Import.
- Select your custom vector sequence and press Open to add a copy of it to SeqBuilder Pro’s vector catalog.
- Choose File > Save Project.
- Exit from SeqBuilder Pro.
