The Welcome “project” opens when you launch SeqMan Ultra and is a central location for launching and opening assembly projects, searching NCBI databases, and accessing this user guide. As you add projects, the Welcome “project” will remain as the leftmost tab unless you manually move or close it. We recommend leaving the Welcome tab in place, since it has many time-saving shortcuts to useful commands.
Tab on left | Option on right | Description |
---|---|---|
New Assembly | Molecular biology | Choose New Sanger/ABI de novo or New Sanger/ABI reference-guided to launch the SeqMan NGen application at the applicable tab of its Workflow selection screen. As of Lasergene 17.2, small Sanger assemblies are assembled in SeqMan Ultra, while only large ones are now sent to SeqMan NGen. SeqMan Ultra is used for downstream analysis in both cases. |
Genomics | Choose a genomics workflow by clicking its name. This launches SeqMan NGen application at the applicable tab of its Workflow selection screen. These options are only enabled for users with a current Genomics package license. | |
Transcriptomics | Choose a transcriptomics workflow by clicking its name. This launches SeqMan NGen application at the applicable tab of its Workflow selection screen. These options are only enabled for users with a current Genomics package license. | |
Open Assembly | Open assembly | Like the File > Open command, this launches a file browser from which you can select an .sqd or .assembly file. See Create or Open a Project for details. |
Recent documents | Like the File > Recent Documents command, this provides a list of recently-opened projects. | |
Search | Search | Identical to using the Search > Search for Sequences command. For details, see Search for sequence matches in BLAST. |
Search for text in NCBI nucleotide | Identical to using the Search > Search for text in NCBI nucleotide command. For details, see Search for text or accession number matches in Entrez. | |
Search for text in NCBI protein | Identical to using the Search > Search for text in NCBI protein command. For details, see Search for text or accession number matches in Entrez. | |
