Which Lasergene package includes SeqBuilder Pro?

SeqBuilder Pro is included in Lasergene Molecular Biology  as well as in the complete DNASTAR Lasergene package which includes all of the applications from Lasergene Molecular Biology, Lasergene Protein, and Lasergene Genomics.
SeqBuilder Pro can also be purchased as an individual application.

Can I search NCBI databases online? Can I search local databases?

GenVision Pro, Protean 3D, SeqMan Ultra, SeqBuilder Pro, and MegAlign Pro all offer the ability to do online sequence similarity searches in NCBI BLAST and text similarity searches in NCBI Entrez.

SeqBuilder Pro does not support creating and searching local databases, but the other applications above all do. In those applications, you first use the Local Database Manager to upload local files and/or import sequences from NCBI, with over 30 databases to choose from. The manager can also be used to merge, expand, rename, and/or delete local databases. Local searches can then be done without Internet access and are a great way to ensure data security. In addition, local searches are 5–25x faster than online searches.

What sequence analysis tools are available in SeqBuilder Pro?

SeqBuilder Pro offers sequence analysis tools for sequence editing and annotation, plasmid map creation, PCR primer design, in silico cloning, clone sequence verification, and gel electrophoresis simulation. Additionally, SeqBuilder Pro works in conjunction with Protean 3D to support advanced PCR site-directed mutagenesis.

What file types can I import into SeqBuilder Pro?

SeqBuilder Pro supports virtually any type of sequence file, including FASTA, ABI, and GenBank formats, and easily imports files from Vector NTI, SnapGene, and Geneious. For a full list of supported file types, see our File Formats resource.
