Gene Calibration

The Gene Calibration transformation scales all of the values in your project so that the value of a specified gene is equal in each experiment.

To apply the Gene Calibration transformation to an existing ArrayStar project, open the Edit Data Transformations dialog by selecting Data > Edit Data Transformations from the main menu.

Note: You may also apply the Gene Calibration transformation in the Set Up Preprocessing step of the Project Setup Wizard.

After the dialog opens, click the Add button to populate the dialog. From the Type drop-down menu, select Gene Calibration.

Select the gene to calibrate to by clicking the Choose Gene button. In the ensuing Find Gene dialog, select the field you wish to search, then enter the gene name, or part of the name, and click Find. The results will be displayed in the bottom half of the dialog.

Click on the gene you want to calibrate to, and then click OK.

Once you have specified a gene, select from one of the following options:

Calibrate to gene’s mean value: All of the values in your project will be scaled so that the value of the specified gene in each experiment equals the gene’s mean value.

Calibrate to gene’s median value: All of the values in your project will be scaled so that the value of the specified gene in each experiment equals the gene’s median value.

Calibrate to specific value: All of the values in your project will be scaled so that the value of the specified gene in each experiment equals the specific value you enter next to this option.
