Scale Experiment

The Scale Experiment transformation allows you to multiply one experiment’s values by a scaling factor. The designated experiment must be a raw experiment or replicate (i.e. not a replicate set).

To apply the Scale Experiment transformation to an existing ArrayStar project, open the Edit Data Transformations dialog by selecting Data > Edit Data Transformations from the main menu.

Note: You may also apply the Scale Experiment transformation in the Set Up Preprocessing step of the Project Setup Wizard.

After the dialog opens, click the Add button to populate the dialog. From the Type drop-down menu, select Scale Experiment.

Choosing Scale experiment scales one experiment by a constant scaling factor, allowing you to adjust the values within one experiment relative to another experiment based on external information. For example, if you know the actual level of a specific gene or control point on the array, you may adjust the values to match that exactly.

When applying the Scale Experiment transformation, the values in each experiment are all linearly scaled by the same factor. Thus, the ratios between values in each experiment will not change, but ratios between experiments may change.

This transformation alters only the values of the selected experiment and will be removed if that experiment is removed from your project.
