Transform Experiment into a Ratio

The Transform Experiment into a Ratio option changes the values of an experiment by turning them into ratios of another experiment’s values. The linear values for the experiment to be transformed are divided by the values in the divisor experiment and become ratios. These ratios can also be thought of as fold changes.

To apply the Transform Experiment into a Ratio transformation to an existing ArrayStar project, open the Edit Data Transformations dialog by selecting Data > Edit Data Transformations from the main menu.

Note: You may also apply the Transform Experiment into a Ratio transformation in the Set Up Preprocessing step of the Project Setup Wizard.

After the dialog opens, click the Add button to populate the dialog. From the Type drop-down menu, select Transform Experiment into a Ratio.

This transformation is intended primarily to allow users of 2-color arrays to change the individual channels’ signal into one set of ratios for the entire array.

Select the desired experiments from the Transform experiment and Divide by experiment drop-down menus.

Although this transformation alters the values of only one experiment, the removal of either experiment from your project will result in the removal of the transformation.
